Suburban Pop Warner Teams Vying for National Glory

The Super Bowl may still be months away, but for a Pop Warner program in the northwest suburbs, championship fever is already running rampant.

That’s because three teams from the Hoffman Estates Redhawks program will head to Florida in three weeks for the Pop Warner National Championships.

Each of the teams has the potential to accomplish something special, but they all have one thing in common: three brothers who are looking to make the title games a family affair.

Emmett, Trent, and Grant Mosley all play on different teams in the Pop warner league. Emmett plays on the junior varsity squad, Trent plays on the Pee Wee team, and Grant plays for the Mighty Mites.

“It feels like we’re all on the same team,” Trent Mosley said.

The boys’ dad is Emmett Mosley IV, who played college football for Lou Holtz at Notre Dame in the 1990’s.

“It’s fun to watch them go out and compete and try to make each other better,” he said.

Whether or not the teams end up winning the national championships, the boys are all happy that they’re able to share the experience together.

“Not a lot of people get to that, and it could be a really fun time,” Grant said.

That attitude toward football, and life, is one that the boys’ father wants to instill in his kids through the game.

“You try to instill certain values and competitive nature in them, and when you see it play out, it makes you proud,” he said.

Supporters who want to help the Pop Warner teams pay for their trip to Florida can donate to the group’s GoFundMe page.
