Police: 3 Dead, 1 Critically Injured in I-57 Crash

Three people were killed and another man was critically injured in a crash early Saturday on Interstate 57 near 107th Street on Chicago's Far South Side, according to Illinois State Police.

A passenger vehicle crashed into the rear of a semi truck at 3:16 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 107th Street, police said.

A man and woman, both age 19, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. Two men, ages 21 and 30, were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the younger man died and the older man was listed in critical condition. They were all traveling in the passenger vehicle.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatalities and further details, including their identities, were not available. 

The driver of the semi was uninjured, state police said.

All northbound lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.
