Peter A. Solomon, Jr., 17, of Chicago, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery in the alleged shooting of a 7-year-old girl and 44-year-old male.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, police say.

Pierre A. Solomon Jr., of the 6200 block of South Albany, Chicago, allegedly shot a 7-year-old female and 44-year-old male Saturday at 4:38 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Hoyne, according to News Affairs Officer Mike Sullivan.

The 7-year-old girl sustained injuries from a gun shot wound in her right thigh and was taken to the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital.  The male victim was shot in the lower back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Both victims were in fair condition when taken to the hospital, police said.

The reason for the shooting is unclear and victims appeared to be innocent by-standers, Officer Sullivan said.

Solomon is scheduled to appear in court on July 5.
