Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat Lead Team USA Over Great Britain at World Championships

Kane is now the all-time leading WC scorer in United States history after the game

It was a big day in Slovakia for Team USA as Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat helped the American squad to a 6-3 victory over Great Britain.

The win vaults the American squad into second place in Group A, as they have eight points thus far in the tournament with three games left to play in round-robin action.

DeBrincat scored his fourth goal of the tournament during the victory, and Kane had a big day at the office, with a goal and two assists to go along with seven shots on goal as the American squad triumphed over the British. Derek Ryan also had two points and Noah Hanifin had a pair of assists in the win.

Kane’s big day gave him 34 career points in the world championships, setting an all-time record for American-born players in the tournament. He is now tied for fourth in the tournament with six points.

The United States will face some tough tests in their final three games of group play, as they taken on Denmark and then a really tough doubleheader as they battle Germany and Canada in their last two games.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Blackhawks prospect Philipp Kurashev was levelled by a hit from Andreas Martinsen in a game between Switzerland and Norway. On the play, Martinsen hit Kurashev from behind with an elbow and drove him face-first into the glass. Martinsen was given a two minute penalty and a 10 minute misconduct penalty on the play:

Switzerland ultimately triumphed in the game, picking up a 4-1 victory over the Norwegians in Group B action.

Other Notes on Blackhawks in the tournament:

-Dominik Kahun and Team Germany will put their undefeated record on the line in their next game as they face host Slovakia on Wednesday afternoon.

-Dylan Strome, who has one goal so far in the tournament, will next be in action on Thursday when his Canadian squad takes on France in Group A action.

-Dominik Kubalik, who already has two goals and three assists in three tournament games, will be on the ice Thursday when the Czech Republic takes on Latvia in Group B.
