The Green Bay Packers coughed up a 17-point lead, but a long pass by Aaron Rodgers helped them to edge out a 30-27 win Sunday over the Chicago Bears.
The Bears erased a 17-point Packers' lead in the fourth quarter of the game, with Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Howard both scoring touchdowns to tie things up at 27-27. Rodgers showed why he's considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL however, as he found Jordy Nelson for a 60-yard completion late in regulation to move the Packers within field goal range.
After spiking the ball, Mason Crosby drilled a field goal to give the Packers the win and send the Bears to their 11th defeat of the season.
The Packers used a massive third quarter to take a big lead on the Bears, as Matt Barkley turned the ball over three times. Ty Montgomery played a big role in that, as he romped into the end zone for his second touchdown of the game, and Christine Michael had a long touchdown run as well as Green Bay raced out to a 27-10 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears finally got wide receiver Alshon Jeffery active after he went without a reception in the first three quarters. He caught two long passes to bring the Bears within scoring distance, and he finished the drive off with a touchdown catch to make it 27-17 with 13 and a half minutes to go in the game.
On their next drive, the Bears scored again. After more great work from Jeffery to get them within striking distance, Jordan Howard did his best Jerome Bettis impression as he bowled over defenders and pummeled his way into the end zone to bring the Bears within a 27-24 score.
The Packers went three-and-out again on their next drive, and the Bears came perilously close to taking the lead. Unfortunately for them, Howard was stopped short of the goal line and Barkley threw an incomplete pass, and the Bears had to settle for a short Connor Barth field goal to knot things up at 27-27 with less than a minute and a half to go.
