Packers Could Set New Record Sunday Afternoon

Lambeau Field has become known as the frozen tundra where the Green Bay Packers hone their craft, but they could break a completely different type of record on Sunday.

The Packers will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, and the current forecasted temperature for kickoff is between 86 and 87 degrees, depending on which weather service one consults.

Either way, that would represent the hottest temperature at kickoff of any regular season game played at Lambeau Field, according to the Packers.

According to reports, the hottest game ever played at Lambeau was contested in 1963, when the Los Angeles Rams visited on a day where the mercury soared to 84 degrees at kickoff. Sunday’s game could end up eclipsing that mark, which has stood for over 50 years.

For those curious, the coldest game in Lambeau Field history was the legendary “Ice Bowl,” which saw the temperature plunge to negative-13 degrees back in 1967. If the mercury hits 87 degrees for Sunday’s game, that would represent a 100-degree swing in records.
