Police Need Help Finding Orland Square Mall Shooter

Orland Park police on Monday released mall surveillance video hoping it will help find the woman who shot a 67-year-old in a mall parking lot over the weekend.

Authorities said they believe the woman in the video, wearing the white jacket and white hat, tried to rob another woman and ended up shooting her in the arm as she walked to her car near JC Penney of the Orland Square Mall shortly before 9 p.m. last Friday.

It was initially believed the shooter ran into the mall, but a sweep of the building turned up no one. The mall was closed down after the incident.

The female victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet. She was not seriously injured.

Her attacker was described as a light-skinned black woman with a medium build, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Orland Park Police Department at 708-349-4111.
