Oprah Does Dallas

Oprah: "Y'all sure know how to make a girl feel welcome"

Our party was better.

Oprah Winfrey threw another party for her show, Monday, but this time she didn't have to shut down a world class shopping destination to garner some attention. Winfrey held her Monday show in Dallas and the State Fair of Texas.

"Y'all sure know how to make a girl feel welcome, thank you Dallas," said Winfrey, wearing a brown cowboy hat.

Show spokesman Don Halcombe said about 4,000 people attended the taping. "It's going to air sometime this fall," said Halcombe.

Fans lined up before dawn in drizzly conditions to get into the 277-acre fairgrounds and stand in the uncovered viewing area to see the Chicago-based media mogul.

A backdrop saying "Oprah at the Biggest State Fair in America" was the centerpiece of the covered stage. The banner had images of Big Tex, the 52-foot-tall cowboy figure known for his "howdy folks" welcome to fairgoers, plus the Texas Star, a 212-foot-tall Ferris wheel.

But there was no flash mob-style choreography like when she closed down Michigan Avenue for three days last month.

Winfrey and her best friend Gayle King were also at the fair on Sunday, where it was learned that she shuns ketchup and takes mustard on her corn dogs
