Chicago police sent out a warning Wednesday about a string of crimes where the victims are abducted, before they are robbed.
Henry Wikowski told NBC 5 he and his wife no longer leave home after 10 p.m. in Old Town because it’s not safe
"Now this is getting scarier and scarier," he said. "We’ve just seen a level of aggression that we didn’t experience 20 years ago and it’s escalating."
Police want everyone on the 1500 block of N Wells Street to be on alert after one of the attacks occurred there on May 26. They say victims reported the first in a string of abductions and robberies between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m.
Police said the criminals approach victims as they exit their vehicle they display a gun or imply they’re armed then drive the victim to an ATM to withdraw money before taking off with the cash.
"That’s frightening because I Uber home from work all the time," Resident Kaleigh Mazzoni said. "It’s terrifying that I didn’t know about it and I live right here."
Police say two men have perpetrated the crimes two other times. One attack was on the 2000 block of North Halsted Street and another on the 2100 block of North Clybourn Avenue last Saturday.

Police don’t have a good description of the two suspects they say if you become a victim stay calm, try to remember any unique physical characteristics so these criminals can be found.
