A Chicago police officer was hospitalized Tuesday night after colliding with a garbage truck on the city's south side.
First responders took the officer to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County after the crash, which happened at about 9:30 p.m. near West 43rd Street and South Ashland Avenue.
Early reports said the officer was on duty at the time but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
The crash remained under investigation.
