Couple Found Dead in West Side Garage Died of Carbon Monoxide

One of two bodies found in a garage in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood on Thursday afternoon is that of a 25-year-old Albany Park woman who vanished four days earlier.

A Chicago Police Department spokesman said the bodies of Nicolette Medina, 25, and Marco Acevedo, 31, were found at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in a garage on the 3800 block of West Gladys Avenue.

Autopsies for Medina, of the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue, and Acevedo, of the 2400 block of West Haddon Avenue, found both suffered carbon monoxide intoxication from inhalation of automobile exhaust within a closed garage. Their deaths were ruled accidental.

Medina on Monday reportedly told her roommate she was leaving to run a quick errand but never returned.
