In honor of National Ice Cream Day, the Museum of Science and Industry will put its own unique twist on the frozen treat by dishing out free scoops at various locations throughout Chicago.
The museum will celebrate the annual holiday with ice cream made of frozen nitrogen, including a sweet corn variety created by Chef Graham Elliott.
The fun will get underway at 11:30 a.m., as “Hey Batter, Batter” flavored ice cream will be available outside of Gate 5 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Fans will be able to try the chocolate cake batter concoction before the White Sox take on the Seattle Mariners in an afternoon tilt at the ballpark.
At 1:45 p.m., the Museum itself will host an event, with Sweet Corn-ell Drive ice cream available. The corn creation will be featured at an event hosted by Elliot at the MSI Smart Park, and an entry ticket to the museum is required to attend.
Finally, the fun will wrap up at 4 p.m. at Maggie Daley Park, as “The Bean” ice cream will be available. The vanilla-bean flavored treat will be available for one hour, according to the museum.
