MLS All-Star Game: League's Best Prepare to Battle Real Madrid

The Major League Soccer All-Star Game will take place Wednesday night at Soldier Field, as the top players in the league will take on Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid on the lakefront.

The best players in MLS will team up in the annual event, which has featured a European club opponent in each of the last 13 seasons. The MLS squad has won nine of 13 meetings with European opponents, but this time around the challenge will be even tougher as they face a team that won the UEFA Champion’s League earlier this summer.

Real Madrid won’t have their top player available as Cristiano Ronaldo will not participate in the game, but countless others, including Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, and Isco will all be at Soldier Field for the hotly contested matchup.

Meanwhile, the MLS squad will be comprised of plenty of talented Chicago Fire players, including team captain Bastian Schweinsteiger. Midfielder Dax McCarty will also be on the roster, as are defender Johan Kappelhof, and forward Nemanja Nikolic, who is currently leading the league with 16 goals scored this season.

The league’s biggest stars will also be on the field, as U.S. national team standouts Michael Bradley (Toronto), Jozy Altidore (Toronto), and Tim Howard (Seattle) will all start the game.

International stars like Kaka and David Villa will also join the MLS squad as they look to continue a largely successful run against European clubs.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the game can be seen on FS1.
