Mitchell Trubisky Pulled After Suffering Hip Injury, Matt Nagy Says

Trubisky was pulled before the Bears' final drive of the game Sunday

In the dying moments of the Chicago Bears’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was removed from the game in favor of Chase Daniel, but head coach Matt Nagy says that the decision was not performance-based.

Trubisky, who threw for 190 yards and a touchdown in the game, faltered badly down the stretch for the Bears as their record dropped to 4-6 on the season. Despite those struggles, Nagy said after the game that Trubisky had suffered a hip injury during the contest, and that led him to pull the quarterback from the game.

“It was all based on him not feeling right. His hip was hurting him,” Nagy said. “I had to pull him aside and tell him that he needed to be honest with us. I don’t want to put him at more risk and I don’t want to hurt the team.”

Trubisky had an emotional exchange with Nagy on the sideline before Daniel went onto the field for the team’s final drive, and remained on the sideline as the seconds ticked down.

Nagy said that Trubisky had suffered the injury during the closing stages of the game, but declined to provide more details on the ailment.
