Minnesota Couple Charged With Making Up Knifepoint Robbery

A Minnesota couple who claimed they were robbed at knifepoint on Lower Wacker Drive made the story up, according to police.

27-year-old Katie Mager and 27-year-old Ryan Reiersgaard were charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct for falsely reporting that they were robbed, according to a press release issued by Chicago police.

According to the couple, they were routed onto Lower Wacker Drive by their GPS on Dec. 7 and that they were robbed at knifepoint by three individuals. They said that a wedding ring, valued at $12,000, a purse, MacBook laptop, and suitcase were all stolen from them, but police later determined that the report was false.

In all, the couple claimed that they were robbed of items worth nearly $20,000 in total value.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Mager and Reiersgaard are expected to appear in bond court on Sunday.
