Michigan Couple Celebrates 80th Wedding Anniversary

A Michigan couple is celebrating an incredible milestone - their 80th wedding anniversary.

Donald and Vivian Hart, both 99, spent time Friday looking through old photo albums, taking a walk down memory lane.

They met one another in the 1930's, they told WOOD-TV, when Vivian and a few other women were lost.

Donald didn't just offer directions - he walked them home.

Donald served in the Air Force and was drafted in World War II before spending 20 years at a seating manufacturing company.

The couple's children said they remember the good times, even when their family had very little money.

"He first got out of the military, I was 7 years old," their son Don recalled. "We lived in a dinky house, it had been a chicken coop. We didn't have things, but we had a lot of fun."

"We had a good time, didn't we? Even in the service," Donald asked Vivian on Friday.

"Good times and bad, like everyone else," she replied.

Donald said that even in the bad times, their love flourished and continued to grow stronger.

"When those times happen, you get knocked down, but you just get up and go again," he said. "When you get together again, it was better yet than ever."
