One of the men charged with the May shooting death of a convenience store owner will spend almost the next five decades in jail for the crime, the Cook County State's Attorney's office said Monday.

Elvin Payton, 26, plead guilty to one count of felony murder after being charged with the murder of Michael Norton.  Payton allegedly has a criminal record and has been affiliated with the Spanish Cobras street gang.

Norton was shot to death while trying to protect his business, Norton Sweet Shop.

Two other defendants, Beatrice Rosado and Kerry Masteron, are scheduled to appear before a judge this week.
