Suburban Man Charged in Hit and Run That Left Boy Seriously Injured

The boy was seriously injured, but was later released from a hospital

A suburban man has been indicted on charges that he was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a 12-year-old boy seriously injured last month.

25-year-old Andrew L. Langston of St. Anne was indicted on a felony count of failure to report an accident and on charges of driving on a suspended license in Kankakee County Court last week, according to court records.

Langston, who is currently being held in an Indiana jail on unrelated charges, could face up to seven years in prison on the charges. Bond has been set at $500,000, according to court documents.

According to Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe, Langston was driving in Kankakee on May 25 when he struck a 12-year-old boy. Langston then fled the scene, and the boy, identified by the Kankakee Daily Journal as Marcus James, was rushed to a local hospital.

According to court filings, the boy was released from the hospital that same day.
