Mail Carrier Robbed at Gunpoint

A U.S. Mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon on the South Side.

The incident occurred at shortly before 12:30 in the 7800 block of South Indiana Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

The mail carrier was confronted by two people, at least one of whom was armed, and the suspects took the mailbox key off the mail carrier's key chain, Baety said.

No one was hurt, Baety said the robbers did not take the key to the vehicle the mail carrier was driving.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
