After a quiet postseason, Addison Russell cracked a two-run home run and Anthony Rizzo racked up three RBI as the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 on Wednesday night.

After a quiet Cubs first inning, the Dodgers got a runner on base thanks to Corey Seager being hit by a pitch. He was retired on a fielder's choice, but Justin Turner moved to second on a throwing error by Javier Baez. Willson Contreras ended the threat whne he picked Turner off of the base, and the Cubs got out of the inning unscathed.

The Cubs' offense threatened in the second inning as Baez walked and Contreras reached on an error, but they couldn't capitalize. Jason Heyward struck out for the second out and Addison Russell flew out on a deep ball to left field to leave the game scoreless.

The Dodgers thought they had scored a run in the bottom of the frame when Adrian Gonzalez was involved in a play at the plate, but home plate umpire Angel Hernandez called him out. After a lengthy video review, the league decided there wasn't sufficient evidence to overturn the call, and the game remained tied.

In the top of the fourth inning, some luck finally went the Cubs' way, and they took the lead. A bunt single by Ben Zobrist and a broken bat single by Baez started things off, and Contreras hit an RBI single to left field to score the Cubs' first run in 21 innings and hand the team a 1-0 lead.

After an RBI groundout by Heyward gave the Cubs' a 2-0 lead, Russell came up and did something that virtually no one expected. The shortstop, who had one hit in the postseason going into the game, smacked a two-run homer over the center field wall, putting the Cubs ahead 4-0.

Taking the lead of his fellow slumping infielder, Anthony Rizzo broke out of his doldrums in a big way in the top of the fifth inning, cracking a solo home run over the center field fence to give the Cubs a five-run cushion.

After Andrew Toles and Andre Ethier reached base on walks in the fifth, Joe Maddon pulled Lackey and brought in Mike Montgomery. Chase Utley hit a single to load the bases, and Justin Turner notched a two-RBI single to pull the Dodgers to within a 5-2 margin.

The Cubs responded to the Dodgers' rally with one of their own as they added to their lead in the sixth inning. Russell continued his solid night with a single and reached second on an error, and he was chased home by a Dexter Fowler single to make it a 6-2 game.

Rizzo continued his big night at the plate a few batters later, as he cracked a two-RBI single to extend Chicago's lead to 8-2.

Baez added a sacrifice fly to his night a few batters later, and Rizzo scored on a throwing error by Joc Pederson to make it a 10-2 game.

The Cubs and Dodgers will break the tie in the series on Thursday night when Jon Lester faces Kent Maeda in Game 5 at Dodger Stadium.
