Man Charged in Fatal McDonald's Shooting

Cordero Sims is accused of killing Irbinzon Gonzalez on Monday night

A Naperville man was scheduled to appear in bond court Friday on charges he shot and killed a man in a McDonald’s parking lot in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood on Monday night.

Cordero H. Sims, 26, of the 1300 block of Normantown Road, is charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Irbinzon Gonzalez, who lived on the 4800 block of North Lincoln Avenue.

Gonzalez, 25, was shot in the head about 7:30 p.m. in a dark-color BMW sedan in the McDonald’s parking lot in the 4800 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was dead at the scene.

A police source said the shooting may have stemmed from a drug deal.
