Lightfoot Releases Full Schedule of Inauguration Events

To kick it off, Lightfoot's transition committees - made up of more than 400 people across 10 areas of interest - will present their transition report to her on Friday

Chicago Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot takes office Monday, but her historic inauguration will be preceded by several events throughout the weekend.

To kick it off, her transition committees - made up of more than 400 people across 10 areas of interest - will present their transition report to Lightfoot, her team said.

That presentation will take place at a breakfast Friday morning, which begins at 9 a.m. and will feature a program from 8:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. news conference.

The presentation will take place at Malcolm X College on the Near West Side, but it's an invitation-only event. The full transition report, which Lightfoot's team says will help shape her administration in areas like economic development, education, housing, public safety and more, will be available on her website at 9 a.m. Friday.

Then on Saturday, Lightfoot will speak at the South Shore Works 4th Annual Summit, beginning at 9 a.m. at Powell Academy on the city's South Side.

She'll then speak to the press at a 10 a.m. news conference at Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation in the Back of the Yards neighborhood before participating in the "Mothers March: Disrupting Violence" event hosted by several advocacy groups working to stop violence.

On Sunday, Lightfoot will attend a 10 a.m. service at Resurrected Life Church International in the Belmont Gardens neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

That will conclude her public events for the weekend ahead of the big day on Monday, when she's scheduled to be inaugurated at Wintrust Arena.

Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event begins at 10 a.m., with the official swearing-in ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The event is open to the public but anyone wanting to attend must register beforehand, and tickets are now wait-list only per Lightfoot's website.

The inauguration event is scheduled to end at 11:45 a.m., then in the afternoon, Lightfoot and her wife Amy Eshleman plan to host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the mayor’s office on the fifth floor of City Hall, located at 121 N. LaSalle St. in the Loop. The open house is open to the public and no tickets are required.
