Garcia, Anderson Help White Sox Make History

The Chicago White Sox may have had a tough time in their brief two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers this week, but thanks to Tim Anderson and Leury Garcia, they at least made some history on the West Coast.

Anderson, who has struggled through large chunks of the season, came up big in the first inning of Tuesday’s game, blasting a lead-off home run to give the White Sox an early lead.

A day later, Garcia got to do the honors as the lead-off man, and he too hit a long ball as the very first batter in the game, notching a dinger off of Yu Darvish.

According to Christopher Kamka of CSN Chicago, Anderson and Garcia are now the only pair of teammates in White Sox history to hit lead-off home runs in back-to-back games:

Unfortunately for the White Sox, the lead-off home runs didn’t mean a whole lot. On Tuesday they were held scoreless through the rest of the contest, dropping a 6-1 decision, and on Wednesday they coughed up a two-run lead in the ninth inning and lost 5-4 thanks to Yasiel Puig’s walk-off double at Dodger Stadium.
