Man Dies After Weekend Shooting

Juwan Williams is the third fatality from weekend shootings that also wounded 26 other people

A Chicago man hospitalized after a Sunday evening shooting died from his injuries early Tuesday morning.

Juwan Williams, 18, of the 4000 block of Arthington Street, was outside with a group of friends about 6:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Polk Street when two other people walked up and one of them opened fire before they both ran away, authorities said.

Williams was shot in his head, chest and arm, and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. He was pronounced dead shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

No one else was hurt in the shooting, police said.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigate.

Williams is the third fatality from weekend shootings that also wounded 26 other people.
