Jordan Hasay Becomes Fastest American Woman to Run Bank of America Chicago Marathon

Jordan Hasay may not have come out victorious in the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, but she did something no other American woman has done.

She set a course record, becoming the fastest American woman to finish the race with a time of 2:20:57.

"It was a huge honor," she said after her finish.

Hasay finished in third place in the 2017 Boston Marathon, and the 26-year-old was hoping for similar success in Chicago. And she did just that.

"It’s only been about seven months since my very first marathon so we’re just really excited for the future," Hasay said.

Hasay finished third in this year's Chicago race. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Tirunesh Dibaba won the women’s field.

Cheering Hasay on from the sidelines were running legends Joan Benoit Samuelson and Paula Radcliffe.

"I'm so delighted for Jordan," Samuelson said. "She's the real deal."

"Jordan went out there and went after it in a big way," Radcliffe said.
