A man died in a fire at a residence in an unincorporated area of Joliet Township Sunday morning.
The fire occurred about 3 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of 823 Greenfield Street in Joliet Township. It was mostly subdued shortly before 3:45 a.m., according to an East Joliet Fire Protection District firefighter, though firefighters remained on the scene until at least 4:30 a.m.
One man, whose name was being withheld pending positive identification, died in the blaze, according to the Will County Coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 4:32 a.m.
Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicated that people were trapped in the blaze.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but declined to release any information early Sunday.
