Interstate 65 Re-Opens After Semi-Trailer Toppled by High Winds

State police say that traffic was backed up by at least four miles because of the incident

Southbound Interstate 65 in Northwest Indiana was temporarily blocked after a semi was toppled by high winds on Thursday afternoon.

According to a spokesman with the Indiana State Police, the semi flipped onto its side near the Remington exit at mile marker 200 in Jasper County. All lanes were blocked as crews worked to remove the trailer from the roadway, according to authorities, but have since re-opened as of 5:30 p.m.

Police say that traffic was backed up for several miles as motorists are stranded while waiting for the truck to be cleared.

There is no update on the condition of the driver of the rig.
