Authorities on Thursday night were questioning several people to find out how a 20-month-old boy suffered severe burns to his head, face and chest.

The boy was taken from a home on the 6900 block of South Cornell Avenue to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital after 7:45 p.m.

A police source said the baby had severe burns to his head, face and chest, but it wasn't immediately known how they occurred.

The boy was listed in critical condition Friday morning, police said.
