ISU Alert Lifted; Man in Custody

Campus officials said man was spotted on campus with a weapon

Illinois State University was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a person with a weapon was reportedly spotted on campus.

That person, who campus officials identified as Nathan Thomas, was in custody as of 4:22 p.m. and the campus alert was dismissed, according to an alert on the ISU website.

Campus officials earlier restricted all residence halls and dining centers to current residents after Thomas was reportedly seen with a weapon near Watterson Towers.

The Pantagraph reported Thomas, from Chicago, allegedly accosted a female student he was visiting. That woman told a friend, who contacted campus police.
