Man Plays Same Numbers in Lottery For Decade, Finally Wins

"I randomly picked them 10 years ago and have believed in them ever since," said Kenneth Kostecka

A Chicago man who said he's been playing the same numbers for 10 years finally got his pay day.

Kenneth Kostecka, 51, won a $600,000 prize earlier this month playing Lucky Day Lotto, Illinois Lottery officials confirmed. His ticket matched all five numbers -- 03 - 07 - 17 - 22 – 30 – in the March 1 evening drawing.

"I randomly picked them 10 years ago and have believed in them ever since," he said.

Kostecka said he plans to use his winnings to remodel his home and travel.

The winning ticket was purchased at New England Pharmacy, on the 6900 block of Archer Avenue. The retailer will receive a $6,000 bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

A West Chicago man won $200,000 in a Lucky Day Lotto drawing in February but didn't realize it until he recently found the ticket in his wallet
