No Injuries in Hotel Garage Fire

There were no injuries, just lots of confusion Thursday evening when a car fire sent billowing smoke through and out of a parking garage in downtown Chicago.

The fire in the garage of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, at 151 East Wacker Dr., was called into authorities shortly before 7 p.m.

Firefighters quickly poured water on the fire, putting it out. The smoke-filled garage was ventilated.

There was no damage other than to the car that was involved, hotel General Manager Randy Thompson said.

Guests said there was an announcement during the fire instructing them to stay where they were while authorities tended to a situation in the basement.
