College sweethearts, soldiers to tie the knot Saturday in Aurora

After a year long deployment in Afghanistan, Army Lt. Anthony Huebner and Army Lt. Stephanie Thompson are entering into a new partnership.

The college sweethearts will be tying the knot at St. Rita Church in Aurora on Saturday.

The couple met while studying together at Marquette University. He is an engineer and she is an intelligence officer.

Friends from all over the country will be in town to celebrate with them, and it's that support the couple credits for keeping them going while overseas.

"We were getting packages. The soldiers absolutely love that, and we're all really thankful for their support," explained Lt. Huebner.

At the wedding rehearsal dinner at Luigi's Pizza in Aurora on Friday, the couple got a surprise bagpipe performance from veterans involved with the group Operation Welcome Home.

Lt. Thompson said part of the weekend will be dedicated to their brothers in arms who are still overseas.

"The guys that took our spots, we know they're not going to be home with their families for the holidays, so were grateful," she said.

The couple plans a brief honeymoon in Washington, D.C. before they head off to Germany for their next deployment.
