City Crews Repair Water Main Break in Auburn Gresham

Authorities were called about 9:40 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Union

What was initially thought to be a sinkhole turned out to be a water main break Wednesday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

Authorities responded about 9:40 p.m. on the 8700 block of South Union, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The city’s Department of Water Management repaired a leak in a valve basin, Greer said. No one was injured.

Police initially reported that a car had fallen into a sinkhole, but that later proved to be incorrect, police said. No car was found at the location of the water main break.
