Firefighters battled a fire at a hotel under construction in north suburban Gurnee Tuesday evening.

Firefighters are battling an extra-alarm fire in an under construction hotel in north suburban Gurnee Tuesday evening.

The fire was reported at the Holiday Inn, 6161 Grand Ave., at 6:49 p.m., according to a Gurnee Fire Dept. firefighter, who said crews remained at the scene at 8:30 p.m. fighting the extra-alarm blaze.

The hotel was under construction and vacant when the fire began, he said.

Further information was not immediately available. It’s unclear whether any injuries have been reported.
