District 46 school board officials and the Lake County Federation of Teachers reached a tentative agreement on Sunday. The last contract expierd in July.

"I'm not sure I'm happy as much as I'm satisfied to have it wrapped up," District 46 board President Ray Millington told the Daily Herald. "I characterize it as a heavyweight fight that went to a draw. I'm proud of the board that we stuck together. I'm also satisfied by the fact that we worked well with the union."

Details of the new contract will not be released until it is ratified.

Teachers went on strike last week over salary issues. They currently earn an average of $57,000 per year.
