Former Bears LB Lamarr Houston Finds New NFL Home

The Chicago Bears cut Lamarr Houston loose before the regular season began, and now the linebacker has a new NFL home.

After J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus were placed on injured reserve Wednesday, the Houston Texans officially signed Houston to a contract, according to the team. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report that the agreement was reached on Tuesday night.

Houston, who suffered a knee injury during the Bears’ preseason finale earlier this year, was placed on IR with an injury settlement, meaning that he would be able to return to the field this season.

In 26 career games with the Bears, Houston registered nine sacks and 46 total tackles, but he suffered season-ending injuries in both the 2014 and 2016 seasons with the Bears after signing a five-year contract with the team in 2014.

The Texans also signed free agent defensive lineman Kendall Langford to a contract.
