A 12-year-old Chicago girl who may be nearing the end of her battle with cancer got the call of her young life Tuesday.
After countless attempts to get her attention on social media, Grammy Award-winning superstar Taylor Swift made a call to Emily Beazley, the girl's mother confirmed to NBC Chicago.
"The smile on my daughter [is one] I have not seen in a very, very long time," Nadia Beazley said. "I could cry."
Emily Beazley for years has been battling a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that's so aggressive doctors last week told the family there was nothing more they could do. Treatment was stopped.
One of Emily's final big wishes was to somehow meet or talk to her favorite singer.
"We would be here all day if I told you why I liked her," she told NBC Chicago last week.
Nadia Beazley said her daughter was star-struck when the phone rang while the family was in the car.

The grateful mother said Swift did most of the talking during the 10 minute conversation. Emily relayed how much she loved Swift's music, and Swift told the girl that she knew about her story: the cancer, the purple and green colors that adorn the family's neighborhood, and the Chicago block recently named in her honor.
Swift said it meant a lot to her that her music could help the girl get through painful treatment, Nadia Beazley said.
Swift earlier this month revealed that her own mother was battling cancer. She's previously shown her generosity through a $50,000 donation to New York City schools, by sending fans surprise packages, and by showing up unannounced at a fan's home.
