Man Reports Burglary, Gets Arrested With Pot

Kamil Starzec allegedly told police he believed someone tried to break in because he had marijuana and cash inside his home

A man who called police to report a burglary attempt faces drug charges after police said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home.

Kamil Starzec, of the 2400 block of North 73rd Court in Elmwood Park, northwest of Chicago, was arrested on Feb. 6 and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, manufacture and delivery of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they responded to the 20-year-old's home after being called about a residential burglary in process. While looking through the home for clues as to who allegedly targeted Starzec, officers said they found marijuana.

Starzec told officers he believed someone tried to break in because he had marijuana and cash inside his home, police said in the report.

Elmwood Park Deputy Police Chief Andrew Hock said his officers located felony amounts of drugs in the home.

According the police report, pills of Alprazolam, used to treat anxiety and insomnia, as well as drug paraphernalia, packaging material and cash were found in the home.
