Human Remains Found in DuPage Forest

Bones "have been there for a long time," coroner's spokesman says

    DuPage County officials launched an investigation Tuesday after human bones were found in a forest preserve.

    A person walking through a forest preserve Tuesday afternoon near unincorporated Wheaton came across human remains.

    The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office said the bones were found at the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve off Butterfield Road.

    "They are just bones," a spokesman for the coroner's office told the Chicago Tribune. "They have been there a long time."

    An investigation has been launched.
