Someone has reportedly threatened the lives of Drew Peterson's defense attorneys.

One of  Peterson's lawyers said Wednesday in a now apparently deleted tweet, "Now we are getting death threats," the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Joel Brodsky, the defense attorney set to make opening statements next week in the Peterson trial, confirmed to the paper that the defense team had received threats.

Drew Peterson is charged with first-degree murder in the 2004 death of his ex-wife Kathleen Savio. After years of delays, Peterson's trial is set to begin July 31.

Judge Edward Burmila, along with the prosecution and defense teams chose a jury of 12 with 4 alternates for the Peterson trial on Monday and Tuesday.

The Will County Sheriff's Office is aware of the threats, officials say.
