The Chicago Cubs have a chance to do something that they haven’t done since 1945, as they will try to advance to the World Series on Saturday night in a Game 6 battle against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cubs, who were shut out in Games 2 and 3 of the series, came back to life in a huge way in Games 4 and 5, scoring a total of 18 runs to win both contests and put themselves within reach of a World Series berth.
It will be a challenge that would be big enough on its own, but it’s complicated even more by the pitcher that the team will be facing on the mound: Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
In Game 2 of the series, Kershaw held the Cubs to just two hits in seven innings of work, and Kenley Jansen finished things off in a 1-0 victory that tied the series at a game apiece.
This time around, Joe Maddon has made a minor change to his lineup, which will read like this:
1 Dexter Fowler – CF
2 Kris Bryant – 3B
Chicago Baseball
3 Anthony Rizzo – 1B
4 Ben Zobrist – LF
5 Javier Baez – 2B
6 Willson Contreras – C
7 Addison Russell – SS
8 Albert Almora Jr. – RF
9 Kyle Hendricks – P
First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m., and the game will be aired on FS1.
