That’s because tickets to playoff games at the Friendly Confines are expected to be more expensive than any other playoff tickets in history, according to ticketing firm TiqIQ.
In a story on Forbes Magazine’s website, it’s revealed that the average ticket price to an NLDS game at Wrigley Field this October is $920 on the resale market. That number represents a jump of nearly $300 from last season, when the average price for a Cubs playoff ticket was $632.
If the Cubs get to the World Series, then Forbes paints an even more astonishing picture.
According to TiqIQ data, the average resale price to a Cubs World Series game at Wrigley Field is currently running at $4159, which is nearly three times the previous record of $1661, which the San Francisco Giants set during the 2010 Fall Classic.
For fans hoping to get into Wrigley Field at face value this postseason, make sure to sign up for the team’s ticket purchase lottery. The round for the National League Championship Series will end on Oct. 7.
