The Chicago Cubs announced that they have activated infielder David Bote from the paternity list after his wife gave birth to the couple’s third child this week.

Bote, who had the game-winning single in Sunday’s victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, hopped on a plane right after the game and headed to Colorado, where his wife gave birth to the couple’s son Sullivan.

After missing Tuesday’s game, Bote was activated on Wednesday. The infielder has a .295 batting average this season with four doubles, a home run, and nine RBI.

In a corresponding roster move, the Cubs sent pitcher Alec Mills down to Triple-A Iowa. Mills did not pitch for the Cubs in the three days that he was on the roster, and will likely rejoin Iowa’s rotation when he heads back to Des Moines.
