According to authorities, a man got on Skokie Swift train with a purple and white bicycle at about 8:45 p.m. on March 28. He began yelling at other passengers and directed at least one comment to the victim.

The victim told the man with the bicycle to leave him alone, and that's when the man approached the passenger, grabbed his jacket and pulled it over his head before punching him. The attacker then knocked the victim to the floor and kicked him in the face, police said.

The victim suffered "severe bruising" and was taken to an area hospital as a result of the incident, police said.

Chicago police described the victim as a senior citizen but did not provide an exact age.

The attacker was described as an Asian man between 22 and 27 years of age. He stands about 5 feet, 4 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds, police said. He was wearing a blue baseball cap with a red iron cross logo on the front, a black jacket with logos on the upper sleeves of both arms and the letter "A"on the back of the jacket with an animal logo on the front, black jeans and black gym shoes, police said.

Anyone who can identify the attacker or has information about the incident is asked to call Skokie police at 847-982-5900.
