A Northwestern University student's story that that she was grabbed from a Chicago Transit Authority train early Tuesday morning and sexually assaulted in a nearby apartment doesn't seem bona fide, police said, and won't be pursued.

According to an alert on Northwestern University's Web site, which has since been removed, the student claimed she was walking to the CTA's Addison Red Line station when she noticed that she was being followed by someone.

She said she boarded a northbound train to return to Evanston and was forced off the train at the Jarvis stop.  She told authorities that she was led to a apartment building where she was sexually assaulted.

After interviewing the student, investigating police said they weren't convinced the attack actually happened.

The university will meet with detectives before deciding whether the student will be punished.
