The Chicago Cubs’ train is officially pulling into the station this World Series.

The Chicago Transit Authority will run its “World Series Special” 2400-series vintage train on the Red Line leading up to the first pitch for Games 3, 4 and 5, the CTA announced in a news release Thursday.

The train, which the CTA says was built between 1976 and ’78, will run one round-trip before the start time of each home game from Howard to 95th/Dan Ryan and back again, making all regular stops.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. Friday and 7:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Restored inside and out, the train’s exterior features the original 1976 American Bicentennial exterior markings of bold red, white and blue stripes, while the interior hosts a collection of reprinted advertisements from times since past.

The exterior is adorned with celebratory posters to cheer on the Cubs’ historic season as well as slogans from Chicago sportscasters Harry Caray and Jack Brickhouse.

The special World Series train is part of the CTA’s Heritage Fleet, a new program announced last June to preserve historic rail cars, buses and more, the transit agency said in the release.
