A correctional officer at the Cook County Jail was accused this week of bringing alcohol to maximum-security inmates in exchange for money.
Daniel Murry, 39, faces one felony count of bringing contraband into a penal institution by an employee, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Murry, who had been employed by the sheriff’s office for more than nine years, was also charged with aggravated battery for injuring an investigator during his arrest, according to the statement.
The arrest followed a "lengthy" investigation that showed Murry brought alcohol into Division 9 of the jail and gave it to inmates in exchange for money, according to the statement.
Murry was released Tuesday on a $100,000 signature bond, according to the sheriff’s office. His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 16.
