A construction worker was killed Wednesday morning by a falling concrete beam or wall at a south side demolition site.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the accident the killed the man shortly before 9 a.m.
“We’re there and evaluating the situation," said OSHA Area Director Gary Anderson, adding that he expects investigators to be looking into the accident for some time.
The incident happened while the man was working on the demolition of a parking garage at 11 E. 79th St.
The victim was dead on the scene, a fire department spokesperson said.
Police spokesman John Mirabelli said the man was killed by a falling concrete beam or wall.
