‘This Could Be You': Friends, Family Release Balloons At Vigil for Murdered Woman

Family members and friends gathered at a vigil for a Chicago woman murdered two years ago in Chicago Wednesday night.

Alexandria Burgos, a college student and big sister, was shot and killed in a home in the same Belmont Cragin neighborhood that mourners released balloons and prayed Wednesday.

Burgos, family says, wanted to work with kids in juvenile detention and help others.

Her parents beg for someone who knows anything about their daughter’s murder to speak up.

“This could be you, she was just sitting in a kitchen waiting for her brother,” Burgos’ father, Rafael Burgos, said. “This code of silence needs to stop, people must come forward and cooperate with the police.”

Her mother says the family misses the daughter they still mourn and seek justice for.

“She would laugh and make everyone else laugh in the room,” said Milagros Burgos.

Police say no one has been charged in the killing and they have no new leads.
