1 Dead, at Least 8 Wounded in Saturday Shootings

One person is dead and at least eight other people have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago on Saturday.

Just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning in the 4800 block of West Quincy, a 31-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when shots were fired.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Loretto Hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest, and was later pronounced dead.

Later on Saturday, two men were taken to area hospitals after they were shot in the 2800 block of North McVicker, according to police.

One man, a 32-year-old, was taken to Illinois Masonic in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his hand and leg. The other, a 23-year-old, walked into West Suburban Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

Here are the rest of Saturday’s shootings:

  • A 25-year-old woman is in stable condition after being shot in the 3900 block of West North Avenue at approximately 1:52 a.m. The woman was standing on a sidewalk when she heard shots and felt pain. She was taken to West Suburban in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her leg, according to police.
  • Just after 3 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Lake, a 22-year-old woman was sitting in a parked car when a person fired shots at her, grazing her head. She was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition, according to authorities.
  • A 34-year-old woman was sitting in a vehicle going south in the 2500 block of North Drake when a person in a green SUV fired shots at her, according to police. The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital with a graze wound to her neck.
  • Just before 4:30 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Prairie, an 18-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when a dark colored van pulled up and an occupant opened fire. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left thigh, police said.
  • A 21-year-old man was shot in the 11500 block of South Halsted at approximately 4:35 p.m., police said. The man was shot in the face and shoulder, and was listed in stable condition at West Suburban Hospital. He will be transferred to Christ Hospital, according to police.
  • In the 4000 block of West Madison, a 40-year-old man was shot in the shoulder, according to police. The incident occurred just after 5 p.m., but further circumstances are unknown. The victim is in good condition.
